newbee with a 1978 gilson wards

i got recently got a 1978 wards gilson model GIL-33418A along with the blade and sickle mower attachments. it has the 16hrs twin Briggs. the 42 inch deck needs spindle housings. someone has tried to shim these once befor. I have tracked the original #s 32996 to the newest one, Lawn Boy 742778, witch is discontinued, any ideas thanks
