Howdy, just joined the ByNet with questions about my new (to me) Kubota 2910. I grew up on an apple farm driving tractors from a young age. I some how ended up driving for a vineyard near St. Helena, Ca., thousands of hours on a Cat D-2 mostly disking and spraying sulfur. Then we replaced the Cat with a Ford New Holland 4230, mainly for the 3 point hitch so we could mow instead of disk. The Ford does fine (some guys said a wheel tractor couldn't be used on those steep hillsides), although the Cat still feels the most secure when you have a ton of grapes pushing you down a steep turn. On my own place I have a 1953 Ford NAA, a 1949 John Deere MC (crawler), and now the Kubota 2910. Must say the HST is weird when you've done so many hours with gears ...but I am seeing its advantages mowing and loading.
