Right... Let the lynch mobs begin. Spam is OBVIOUS... Let the mods(let's face it, this site makes money off of us) figure out how to deal with it.

Regardless of how many people report a particular post, there's only one post for the moderators to remove. But if there are replies to that post in the thread, those replies won't make sense after the spam is gone. And it's extra time and work for a moderator to remove those replies. In some cases, I guess if the spam is a new thread; i.e., first post in a thread, then the reply is removed when the spam is removed, but if the spam is elsewhere in a thread, that's another matter. We did have a quicker, simpler way to remove spam and ban the poster, but that had to dropped because it also banned anyone who had replied to the spam.

How about only letting new posters post in new member introductions. Until that is vetted the rest of the forums will be safe?

The spammers seem thoughtful - having pushed viagra yesterday they seem to be pushing tramadol today in case you have any side effects - like a banging headache.

Seriously though, what about removing / reducing the 10 second delay in reports - having just reported a number of the tramadol spams I hit this many times. Also, as the spams look the same, how about changing the little triange (say to red) if you the thread has been reported already to save folks wasting their time / reduce the number of reports the mods receive?

The admin controls of the forum software should be able to remove a thread and all child posts in that thread. After all its just a database. If the forum software can't do that basic functionality then a programmer needs to be hired to add it. Then its easy to remove a spam post.

Whats wrong with that? Maybe it would get the point across to not quote spam

Along these lines, about knowing when a post has been reported so thousands of members arent reporting the same post, does it help if we reply (without quoting) that a post was reported? I saw another member do it, and I just did, but wonder if it helps or if it creates more work for the mods??
