The following member guidelines shall govern the conduct of members of TractorByNet. In addition to these guidelines, our Terms of Use has an acceptable user policy in section 9, which all members are bound by and must agree to in order to sign in.

Be polite

Our members must be respectful to each other and engage in only cordial discussion. Insulting other members either specifically or with blanket statements will not be allowed. Targeting other members with trolling (posting just to annoy, provoke, antagonize, belittle, or insult) or doxxing (posting personal information about other members without their consent---this will result in an instant ban).

No Advertising

Advertising or soliciting in message body or via PM is not allowed. Members with an "Advertiser" title are exempt from this rule but are prohibited from spamming via PM or posting duplicates of the same message in the forums.

Avoid these topics

  • Excessive profanity (whether filtered or not)

  • Signature contains profanity, commercial links (unless an advertiser), inappropriate content, links to inappropriate content or content that appears to be there just to provoke other members or their known beliefs.

  • Discussion of politics or religion

  • Impolitely criticizing moderators, admins or site policies. Feedback is welcome but please don't target moderators, they do the best they can.

  • Mentioning dealer names in threads discussing problems or disputes with dealers.

  • Posting any private communications received from another party

Prohibited content includes (at a minimum):
  • Pornography or NSFW (not safe for work) imagery, videos, or words/phrases

  • Content that threatens or advocates for harm on oneself or others

  • Content that harasses, intimidates or bullies an individual or group of individuals

  • Content that incites hatred against, promotes discrimination of, or disparages an individual or group

  • Content that violates the intellectual property of others

  • Hacking/cracking content or links to cracked products, books, manuals, software or other content

  • Malware or adware

  • Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia content

  • Any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity or infringes on the legal rights of others
How to help moderate

Users can report any post for moderator review. To report a post, click the "report" link at the bottom of the post.

How we moderate

Moderators do not read every post in the forum, as there are on average 700-800 new posts every day. We do review and take action on every reported post, usually within hours or minutes depending on the time of day.

Moderators may edit posts to remove prohibited content, delete posts that do not meet the forum guidelines, or lock threads from further posts if the entire thread goes outside of the forum guidelines.

Why we have rules

TractorByNet is an advertising-supported community. We are required by our relationships with third party advertising vendors to prohibit and remove certain types of content. While we strongly dislike removing any posts and don't believe in censorship, the rules are in place to keep the lights on first and foremost. Additionally, we believe that the guidelines regarding politeness are necessary for any community to remain civil and helpful for all members.

Account Restriction

If a user account has had five or more posts deleted over a rolling 90 day period for posting content that does not meet these guidelines, their account may be warned or locked until the user agrees to re-read and abide by the forum guidelines. If after this warning the user continues to post content that goes against these guidelines, they will be banned permanently.

Any egregious violations of our guidelines or terms of use may result in a ban with no warning.

Forum Guidelines updated. Please read. (y)

What actually changed?
Agreed. I am not a fan of updated policies without highlighting changes (here or anywhere). It's a bigger problem with contracts and business relationships. Probably because I am bad at remembering what they used to say. :)

Mostly wording. Couple things added to prohibited topics that are now required by our advertising networks.

I took covid-19 off the prohibited list since it gets mentioned sometimes now without much issue.

I also took the specific criteria for punitive actions off and it'll just be discretionary.

Here's a copy of the previous post.

Anyone know if you can do a poll on TBN?
If so, how?
