Private message notification

Why is it that when I get a private message notification, even after I open, read, and reply, I keep getting the notification. Doesn't matter if I reopen it, press "cancel", or anything else I try. Gets pretty annoying after a while.

Agree that there is a problem with the 'private' function.
I have taken to click to check and even then no message but if I open I find one waiting,
OK, I was expecting one otherwise I'd never have known.

I believe that's the case more often than not for many of us any more. At one time I would see a flag on the ALERTS icon, but no longer. No Email notes either. If I don't open the inbox, there is no way of knowing.

There are so many browsers, pop-up blockers, java issues, operating systems, updates, security software, etc... its a wonder that we can see it at all.
