It may be the opinion af some that content allowed or disallowed here may be too arbitrary based on opinions of those who moderate the forum.
Possibly they could change the forum a bit to have a "My TractorByNet" where the user could choose or un-choose their own content.
In any community of 10,000+ individuals, you are bound to run across others that just rub you the wrong way- possibly like me?!
Essentially, if you block another member, you will no longer see anything they write in the forums. You will also not see any replies to their messages, either.
Thats just one idea.

If you click on "My Home" at the top of the page it should take you to the Control Panel. On the left side of the new page towards the bottom is a button to create a buddy list or an ignore list.

I have never bothered to do this. If someone is on "my list" I just skip over their post. Easier for me. :)

As mentioned, there is an ignore list in your personal control panel where you can do exactly what you suggest.

As for content, what would you suggest the criteria be for allowable content? We have milk and cookies folks at one end of the spectrum and, well, you pick the analogy for the other end of the spectrum . How could you administer it? Just allow everything and let people decide what they do not want to see? It can't be done and maintain a family friendly site because some one will try and post R rated stuff in a G rated forum just to get a rise out of folks. The way it is set up now, folks know the rules up front.

On another board the "ignore" list was called a Bozo. There was only one guy I "Bozo'd" but I found myself getting mad about everything he posted so it was better for me just to not see it.

I agree with MossR.

Besides.. there are so many visitors and guests that just hop in and browse.. that the boar needs to be more or less 'acceptable' to at least 80% of the viewing audience. Obviously you can't content filter down EVERYTHING. but i think for the most part.. content filtering here is semi- reasonable... we all see a few subjects that disappear that we may not think should have gone.. but considering the number of topics that pop up daily.. it is probably a reasonably low percentage.. etc.

I have one very annoying poster on my "ignore" list, he adds absolutely nothing to the forum. He very often posts to very old threads and just says things to stir controversy. Try it, you'll like it!

Some folks don't seem to be bothered by him nearly as much as others. ;) I have no one on my ignore list.
