Default Ford 1710 Price??? COnsidering buying

I am considering buying a Ford 1710 4x4 with FEL, finish mower, and extra set of turf tires for $7500. It has 1309 hours and looks good. Very minimal rust, no leaks, etc. Currently there are ag tires on the tractor (rears probably 35%). The only thing not working are the lights. Without turf tires, price is $7000.

Is this a fair price? Also, I've seen hp rating for 1710 ranging from 21 to 27 hp. What is the correct engine hp?

Thanks
Bob

I'd say $7,000 is a fair price. If you search tractorhouse.com they have quite a few and any with 4X4 are llisted right around that price without attachments and some with out loaders. I paid more for mine without any attachments and I really enjoy mine. The 1710 rates 20 hp at the drawbar, 24 HP at the PTO, and 27 HP engine. I think some parts for these tractors are hard to get or expensive but they are parts for major repairs like a cracked engine block.

I've run a 5 ft tiller behind mine and it handles it well. Also a 5 field cultivator which it handles very well with the 4X4 engaged it can go as deep as the cultivator will go. Hydraulics are a little slow on the loader but nothing that is annoying

1300 hrs is pretty low. What model year is it? with all the stuff you have the price does not seem too bad. I'll try to bing it down a 1000 if I could, it'll be a sweet deal in that price. One thing with 1710 , it is a 3 cyl Diesel, and it does have a live PTO (dual clutch) and extra set of tires is great. Do you have any pictures of it? do you know how many owners it had and since it has got no rust must have been stored inside. Sounds good.

JC,

Thanks for the replies. I do have pics of it, but not here at this computer. The tractor pics look good. The only damage is on the front hood. Looks like it was dinged up a little, but other than that all looks good. The owner has had it a few years. She bought it with 1100 hours on it and now there is 1300+. She bought a bigger tractor for use on her horse farm. She is pretty firm on the price from the sounds of it. I don't think she will go any lower than $7500.

Does this tractor have powersteering? That is a question I have to ask her.

My needs for advice: I have 9 acres of mostly wooded land on the side of a rolling hill. My house sits 800 feet up the driveway from the road. I need to maintain the driveway, and mainly use it to clear the land. The woods is pretty thick so I hope to use a tractor to try to clean it up some. I've been looking for a tractor in this horsepower range (25-30), and not too expensive. Of course I would prefer a HST, but can't find them under 10k.

Oh, I will probably purchase the tractor with the turf tires, so price is $7500. Without the turf tires, price is $7000.

Are the turf tires (good thread) on rims and filled with calcium worth the extra $500?

Bob,

Turf tires benefit you mowing more of manucured lawn versus field grass (brush hogging), it'll be gentler on the grass and soil. For drivay maintenance and light cleaning, skidding and logging you'll enjoy turf better for sure. I don't think she'll have much use with her ag tires and it's associated rims. I'll ask her for the Ag on top of the turf to seal the deal.

JC,

J.C.,

The ag tires are on the tractor and that is what the owner uses. The turf tires are sitting under cover and not used. So the deal with the owner is $7500 for tractor, FEL, finish mower, and turf tires. She has someone who wants to buy the turf tires for $500, so she said she will sell the tractor without turf tires for $7000. I want the turfs, but have not commited to buying yet. So I don't know if she sold them or not.

I think this is a really good deal with the tires. I have a 1715 4x4 with Ag tires and really wish i could find a good deal on some turf tires. If they are in good shape, they are definitely worth purchasing with the tractor. Also my 1715 (which is similar to the 1710...I think) is a great tractor and pulls my Bush Hog Chopper and Land Pride Tiller just fine....it's rated at 27 HP and is diesel.

The tractor most likely does not have full fledged power steering but mine does have power assist as the manual calls it. I've never had any steering issues. It steers easily.
