HELLO EVERYBODY , I HAVE BEEN READING YOUR SITE FOR QUITE A WHILE NOW AND I FINALLY JOINED. I ALSO AM IN THE NEED OF SOME ASSISSTANCE/ADVISE BECAUSE THE INVESTMENT I WANT TO GET IS BETEEN $2600.00 TO $3200.00 ,THE COST OF A MIDDLE OF THE ROAD PLASTIC/TIN THEY ARE CALLING GARDEN TRACTORS. I OWN NOW (FOR THE PASSED 9 YEARS) A NH TC21D 54 BUCKET 52 ROTTOTILLER 7 FOOT BACK BLADE AND A 7 FOOT RAKE FOR MY OWN PERSONAL USE. IT IS QUITE A JUMP UP FROM THE GARDEN TRACTOR SERIES AND I WANT TO KEEP IT THAT WAY (NOTHING AGAINST GARDEN TRACTOR I LIKE TO RESTORE OLDER ONES) MY QUESTION IS I WANT TO PUT A DECK ON THIS (MID MOUNT) LISTS A 914A 60 BUT DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A 72 INCH DECK WILL WORK POWER WISE? I WILL BE REMOVING THE FEL IF I PUT THIS MID MOUNT ON (EASE OF MANUVERING) SHOULDNT "RUT" UP MY LAWN ,MOSTLY CLAY, BUT IF ANYONE HAS INPUT ON THAT I WOULD APPRIECIATE THAT. ALSO HAS ANYONE HEARD OF ANY BOLT THREADS PULLING OUT (TRACTOR SIDE ) FOR THE BRACKET MOUNTING , MAY BE A COMMON SENSE THING (loctite or lock washer of some type) OR A CASTING FLAW .I READ THIS FROM A SELLER ON EBAY WHEN HE PUT IT IN HIS DESCRIPTION.THAT WAS THE FIRST AND LAST TIME I HEARD THAT. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ANTCIPATED HELP.

Unless you were in very thin grass, I don't think you would have the power to run a 72" mower deck. I have a TC-24D and the 60" Rear Discharge will bog it down to the point that if I don't catch the clutch quick enough it will stall the engine.
As far as the bolts. Yep. Been there done that. They fell out the first weekend that I had it. Put new ones in and was fine for awhile. Then they fell out again and this time broke 2 of them off in the bottom of the tractor. Drilled them out with an E-Z out. They came right out. I put them back in with a higher grade of Loc-Tite then I used the first time I put them in. I still will throw a socket on them and check them every now and then to make sure they are still tight.....hmmmm....haven't check them in awhile. Before I put the deck back on (had it off for tilling) I guess I better check them again.

All caps is harder to read and represents shouting. BTW, I sold my 914A since it in combination with my TC25D was too heavy for my yard. |

Thankx for the photos, I hope you dont have anymore concerns with those bolts , sounds like you have the condition under control.I have 6 acres and my grass cutting time would drop dramatically.I have 2 boys and 2 girls very busy schedule, I dont mind the cutting time but lately always "under the gun" to get the yard done. thankx again Pete
