HST going in reverse on her own.

TC34DA HST

When I let off on the FWD/reverse pedal- I end up in reverse (moving on her own)

Here's what I checked:

I greased the fitting on the HST fitting.

Fluids are ok

yes it is cold -but am checking while in heated garage.

my guess is the HST electronic switch --is there a way to reset it??

my current on going project is clearing the pond area while everything is frozen.
finished making a sleigh hill -broke my first tooth on the backhoe while ripping a stump--I know and I wont do that again but I did promise the kids.

I know nothing about HST but could this possibly be a linkage adjustment? Sounds like it is too close to the reverse side.

John, as far as I know your TC34DA has no electronic switch controlling the HST. It is strictly a function of pedal position. If you look under the operator's platform, you will probably see adjustment bolts that control the centering position. My tractor is slightly different from yours or I would giive you details. Maybe someone else with the exact details will chime in with a far better description than I have given.

I looked at the parts diagram on Messicks.com and I think the adjustment bolt may be on the cruise control lever mechanism or the return spring might be adjustable. Either way, I'm still sure it is a mechanical adjustment.

I think jinman is right on target.

To the original poster.. nbext time it does this, reach down and wiggle the pedal to see if you can find a true neutral spot.. if so.. you may need to readjust this as center..

I have noticed on my TC30, that the rocker pedal, especially in cold weather, tends to stick. After it is worked a while it goes away. I am thinking that yours has two pedals? If it is one rocker type pedal like mine, do you set your whole foot on it? I've noticed that when I do that, I tend to rock the pedal backward ( with it sticking there ) a little when taking my foot off from it, sometimes causing it to creep in reverse. Obviously, mine is basic with no cruise control, so your problem could be different. Jinman and soundguy are two of the most knowledgeable here, so what they are saying is probably what it is. I removed the 2 panels under the sterring wheel and there it was I'll call it a adjustable shock --well that's what it looks like any way. I remove the e-clip
to remove the shock and remove the cotter pin on the linkage when everthing was removed I turn the head on the shock 2 full turns reinstalled in reverese order the way I took it off--fire her up problem fixed.

My TC29D did that at first also. I just had to adjust the linkage under the platform and it fixed it. I also took my GPS and adjusted my high speed settings according to the book also.

Hey Murph, when they launched those GPS satellites into space, do you think they ever envisioned some guy adjusting the HST foot pedals on his tractor using GPS data.

Surely you must be joking. As all of the HST owners here will tell you.. the HST are very robust and have no problems or downsides (snicker!)

good luk on your probelm.. I'd check / lube your linkage and check any centering springs.. look for binding.. etc
