Can gas storage tank be converted to diesel

Copperhead, Excellent post. I was misinformed by my reading apparently regarding Kerosene in winter diesel. I have never mixed it myself. Here in south central Oklahoma I run #2 all the time and just use additives in coldest winter to be sure. I never have a problem with gravity flow from my overhead tank. I have been in Alaska but was in a gasser. Likewise at -47F in Minot, ND.

I have only rarely operated a diesel in below zero conditions. We just barely hit zero Fahrenheit here once in a while briefly and that is NOT TYPICAL.

Oh, by the way... did you know that the bite of a copperhead is typically way over rated and is virtually never lethal. Probably as many people get into trouble from reactions to the horse serum based anti-venom as by the bite itself. The treatment of choice at local emergency rooms is OBSERVATION. Like most snakes, copperheads don't brush their teeth or observe good oral hygiene so you can get a nasty infection from any snake bite, poisonous or not.

I'll put on my flame suit here and say again that a few gallons of gasoline in 300 gallons of diesel will make no difference.

I wouldn't add it intentionally but it would be ridiculous to try to clean out gasoline residue to change the tank to diesel use. Diesel is a mixture of lots and lots of different compounds, many of which are also found in gasoline. The composition of diesel actually varies quite a lot.

LBrown: do you have an item number for that pump at Northern Tools, or a link? Did a search and did not find one for that cost.

On the gas issue, I guess I am at the point where I think I would drain out all I can, change the filter, and use the first gallon for a use other than to fuel my equipment. I think all of your points are well taken.

I couldn't find it either so I did a search on the item number and it came back -> discontinued item.
They do have this one almost like it for $99.oo so I'd go with it.
