Is that a Northern Hyd. 12 volt pump? What is the duty cycle on the pump? Guess it works well enough to pump 50 gallon at a time without burning up. Your transfer hose from the truck to the inside storage, what do you do with it when not being used? Do you plug the end to keep stuff out?

1*It's a Northern 12 volt diesel pump.
2*Don't know but it gets the job done real well.
3*No problem.
4*Hang it across the door way near the ceiling on hooks 2 or 3 feet apart.
5*It has a water well foot valve on the end.
I modified the valve and lined the inside of it with a piece of aluminum screen wire to keep the bigger stuff out.
I use a tall kitchen trash can bag secured to the hose with a bread wrapper twisty to keep the end of the hose clean between uses.

Don't have a picture handy, but I started out with a 115 VAC Northern Tools diesel pump on a 55 gallon drum about ten years ago, and have graduated to the same pump on a 335 gallon propane tank converted to diesel storage. I buy new fuel about once a year. Load the empty tank on my F350 dually using a forklift and haul it to the local bulk fuel dealer. Last fill, just before the end of 2007, cost roughly a thousand bucks. Now I hate to use that $3.00 fuel, knowing that it's going to cost five bucks or more per gallon to replace it!

The money I've saved this year just on that one tank of fuel more than paid for the pump and tank.

Why are you taking it to have it filled instead of getting the fuel delivered to you.
? ? ?

Costs ten cents a gallon more to have it delivered. And there's always the concern about whether the driver will refuse to deliver if my setup is not quite up to current EPA or OSHA standards. You know, grounding cables, catch pans, ports to fill from bottom instead of top, etc.

Yesterday I saved $42.60 on 60 gallon of off road compared to getting 60 gallon of on road.
