I remember that happening a few times ehen I pumped gas after highschool. Many folks would shut the pump off first, then hang the nozzle up, or squeeze it again while hanging it up. We used ti chech the self serve pumps sfter that happened.
    Thanks,

    Will

More than likely intentional. I've run into locked on pumps before, so now I always check before. Probably the people who do this are the same people who introduce computer viruses.

I've had it happen to me also on diesel.

The other day I was waiting at a gas pump, and a lady pulls the nozzle out of her car while it was still locked on and spilled gas all over the place.

Have seen some stations brake the shoe/notch for the lever lock off there nozzles when installing them . So you have to contol it yourself . It can be a pita but keeps this from happening !

Never had it happen. Could be because I always put the nozzle in the tank before turning the pump on.

I really appreciate the heads-up and will sure look at the nozzles from now on. That said, I've been pumping gas/diesel for over 50 years and never had that happen to me. I thought the pump cradle has a release lever that pushes the handle or jams the nozzle so it won't fit unless the fuel lever is released. I don't know if that's the case or if the nozzle can be carefully set into the cradle when the nozzle won't release. I never thought about it much because it's never happened to me, but the next time I fill up, I'm going to look at how the nozzle fits into the cradle and see how it works. Thanks again for the heads-up.

Gascap in the handle holds it on so that I can wash the windshield while the tank fills...
