Fuel filters keep clogging

I just went and tried to look up the bulletin that mercury marine put out. The bulletin is to old and couldn't find it, it told how to clean your tank and what to look for. The bulletin was put out in the early 70's.

I'm going with algae in your tank. My Brother had this problem with his line of AG equipment a few years ago. The algae got started in his portable storage tank. He had it in everything. Didn't remove any tanks. Went to O'Reilly's and bought some biocide. Treated the tanks and ran the equipment. Some needed another filter change some did not. Broke down the algae and turned it into a black slimy moss looking material.

The other day he politely said if I needed fuel in my tractor that I could get it outta his tank. I politely said okay and changed the subject. I'll never pump a single gallon of fuel out of his tank.......

In the case of your tractor, it has very few hours for it's age. I'm guessing it's had fuel sit in the tank for months at a time.

Hard to imagine that a live critter can be in there. But happens often with sparsely used equipment.

You have a contaminated fuel system. Diesel bugs. You need to drain your tank completely, wash it out, fresh fuel, fresh filter, biocide, diesel treatment, then watch it closely.

Times two!! I had an excavator that spent alot of time sitting and when i purchased it low and behold fuel system problems. Pulled the tank cleaned everything and problem solved.
You also have a low hour machine that is 7 years old my guess would be alot of moisture in the tank. Try keeping the tank as full as possible at all times.
