I would still like to find a 25 - 30 gallon barrel. Dad did find me a steel 15 gallon. But it is still a little too small. I bought a barrel pump from Cummins tools when they were in town for $12.99 + tax. Ended up calling them and complaining about it (I knew I was a taking a risk buying from them, but figured I would take a chance) but they ended up refunding my money and told me to keep it. I've done a little bit of modification to it to get it to work, but I now need to reseal it as it drips a little bit. But it is still a whole lot better than holding the 5 gallon cans. Still would like to find a something a little bit better at a reasonable cost though.

Seems like the easiest and best deal is just to use a 55 gal metal drum. You don't have to completely fill it if you don't want to but you can if fuel goes down and you want to capture the cost benefit. Or perhaps you know you'll be using a lot of fuel for a big project, or even a buddy of yours needs to "borrow" 5 gallons.
The metal drums can be had for $15-20 which might be a little more than plastic but it won't matter in the long run, when considering the reliability. Then there's the fire hazard...the metal drum won't melt. Also, if you're married, your wife will think you're a much cooler guy cause you're picking the safer method. One last thing... don't keep it in the garage but keep it covered to prevent water leaking at the bung. |

I have 2 distributors than will fill my 30 or 55 gallon drum if they are already in my neighborhood making other deliveries or are passing by my place even though they have a 150 Gal. minimum delivery policy.

1* These caddys cost way to much and offer to few benefits. I've got about 100 dollars less than the price of a caddy in my set up and it will do things for me that a caddy just can't do. 2*Let me know too. 3*I got a nice FREE 55 gallon drum from the off road supplier. It had contained diesel fuel additive of all things. 4*There is a Building supply Company about 2 miles from me that gets off road delivered. Going out the other direction about 5 miles from me there is a farmer that gets off road delivered. I could probably take my drum to one of them and get it filled when the supplier fills their tank. Do you know anybody around you that has off road delivered. Perhaps you could get your drum filled there when they have their tank filled. You might even be able to arrange buying your fuel from them. That would save you from paying the higher price for on road at the local gas station.
