Default Screen filters only?

On my Kub. L3000dt tractor (manual drive) there are only screens to filter the hydralic fluid, no real spin-on filter. Can anybody explain why this would be done and if it is sufficient to keep the oil clean.
Thanks Rich.

I can't explain it, but my John Deere Model 670 also only has a screen filter--no spin on. According to the owner's manual, the tractor would have a spin on filter if it had power steering.

Does the manual give any idea where the spin-on filter would have been mounted? I am thinking of installing one on my Kub. if a good place can be found. Rich.
