I saw this on the news this morning. $6,000 fuel cell motorcycle planned by 2006
I wonder how long until we see cars/trucks running with this type of fuel? |

A fuel cell is like a battery.. uses hydrogen to generate electricity.. they've installed them in "green" buildings.. I think Yellow Stone Park had one installed.. also used on the space station.

I always thought an electric powered ATV would be nice for quiet operation in the woods, if you weren't in a hurry or going to far. Maybe someday with fuel cells?

Takes more energy to make the hydrogen for the cells (or hydrogen powered motors) than practical. There is a low efficiency. Thats why this will never fly, unless nuclear powered electricity (to make the hydrogen) is more prevalent.
I think that vegetable-matter oil (not bio-diesel) powered diesels are the way to go. Very minimal processing loss. Just my wacko opinion. |
