We're all the way up in Waterbury, about 30 miles south of Burlington.

So then it will only cost me about $40 in gas for those "free" plastics barrels!

Thanks anyway!

Bill, here is a pic of my plastic fuel drum. I got rid of the steel 55 gal. drum since I am using less fuel now. I got the 30 gal. blue plastic drum from the city. It had contained sand flush, thats a soapy like stuff that they pour into storm drains, it makes the sand fluffy so the can flush it out of the drains. I have it on a $69.00 carry-all ftom TSC.Also got the pump for about $20.00 at TSC. My bulk dealer gave me the nozzel and hose. I only live one mile from the bulk plant so I just road the tractor over and fill up the drum. the drum is rounded on the bottom so it is easy to tip over and set off on the ground under the shed.

Same here. The 5 gal cans are awkward to fill with, and I can often go through 5+ gals over a weekend. My tractor lives at a second home so I found I was dragging fuel cans back end forth every time I went to the house.

I got a 30 gal drum and pump and am very pleased with the results. Filling the tractor is much easier, and I only need to get the drum filled every 1-3 months depending on what I'm doing. I first starting using the drum last winter and I think I've filled it three times so far.

Where'd you get the 30 gallon drum?

I got it from a drum manufacturer in Lowell, MA. It was local and available. Unfortunately I don't recall the name of the place, but I found them via the yellow pages. I suspect most metropolitan areas have one or more suppliers.

Mike,
I have 30 gallons for diesel storage but I did it with two 15 gallon plastic barrels that I bought from G.I. Joe's. They are intended for water (blue) but the are sturdy enough for fuel. Sportco also has them. They have the fine and coarse thread bungs and the Harbor Frieght barrel pump ($20) works just fine. They are not so heavy that they can't be moved by hand.

Mike,

This is the pump I have Barrel Pump This one works with diesel. I don't know that the ones in your link will. The barrel looks like this: Blue Barrel
