Spent about 20 mins grinding down a 26" oak stump, a foot below the ground. It's been haunting me a while, but no more.

Does it take 2 remotes to run the grinder plus one for your HTL?

Roger, Yes it takes 2 remotes for the stumpgrinder, one for up/down, and one for side to side. I also have one for the top link and another for the side link, so 4 total.

They sell a kit for the stumpgrinder though, for around $500 if I remember correctly, that enables you to use it with just a power beyond circuit, so I assume it's just a 2 spool valve kit that they sell, but I don't know as I've never looked into it.

I ended up hitting one of the MANHOLES and breaking the hydraulic line to the powersteering, leaving most my hydraulic fluid on the ground and ontop of the manhole cover. The tractor is still out in the field tonight and probly tomarrow untill i can get the hydraulic cylinder repaired. at least it was a nice clear 95deg. to make it the most pleasent day ever.

Did a little mowing job today, with some stumpgrinding and grading on the side.

A friend of mine (parents actually) wanted a hand clearing the backyard some more. I loaded up the gear and spent 9 hours in the seat. First mowing, then cut down 5 trees, knocked over many small ones, ground down 7 good size stumps and a few small ones, then graded using the box blade to level off a few spots.

Impressive stump grinding photos. When I used to live with lots of trees it would have been the perfect tool.
What's the price range that these things cost?
    ******

May I be the kind of person my dogs think I am,

They're not cheap that's for sure. This particular model that I have, the Shaver SC50 is rated for 100hp tractor max, and 35hp minimum. It costs anywhere from 6500-7500 to buy new.

I would never be able to justify the expense of one, but I stumbled across a good deal on this one and got it for a third of the price, plus it was barely used when I purchased it.

I've made about half that back on stumpgrinding jobs since then.
