TODAYS SEAT TIME

   / TODAYS SEAT TIME #481
Took down a big poplar that has been leaning over the driveway since a big windstorm didn't quite knock it down two years ago. Since it was already leaning hard I cut a couple of roots and over it went tearing out its own stump. Blocked up all the wood for firewood then pulled the stump the rest of the way out and took it to the burn pile.
I took the photos with my phone so not the best but, better than nothing.

Wow! I don't ever think I've seen a cutter like that with no tailwheel. Is yours unique or is this common?

We don't have gauge wheels on cutters, just the metal skids. I've seen them on TBN and come to think they might make using cutters easier than finely adjusting the height above ground. Notice ours have chains to allow the back to follow the contour of the ground.

Took advantage of a bright sunshine to trim hedges on the property. Had a great time.

Awesome! I think I just added a new toy to my future wishlist.

It looks like you can trim pretty high with that. About how high can it go? Too cool!:cool2:

And easier to turn without ripping up the ground with the skids. You have a lot of expensive toys that must be crazy expensive over there.

Finished my corduroy road through a wet spot. Now I can get my tractor to a whole new section of woods that was only accessable on foot or by wheeler
before. It was hot but being a little dryer made it easier to work in the mud.
I filled the cracks and spaces with some 3/4" crucher run to help keep every thing in place when I skid logs accross.

I'm not sure you can read the figures on the poor scan I managed to make, but they are 14'9" vertical and 10'6" for a horizontal cut. It can cut on either side and there is a safety release if you get it caught in something. I have about 1 kilometre of various hedges here and this implement really changed my life !

Yes, avoiding ripping up the ground is what requires delicate height adjustments (not always successful).
You don't seem to lack pretty toys either!
I'm not sure prices are higher here than they are with you, but of course our standard of living is lower.

Stared out with the JD 74-112 & #10 cart to trim & chip some tree limbs. Transmission went out on the 112 (fortunately, I have a spare) :(. Took the 83-420 out to bring in the 112 & finished the job. Used the Troybilt 10 HP chipper/shredder.

Then got the 790 w/loader out & mulched some shrubbery. Need to haul in some more mulch this Fall. ~~ grnspot110
