TODAYS SEAT TIME

Seat time yesterday was over 4 hours in the car after visiting my mom for her 95th birthday.
On the route I had spotted this a year ago, but finally remembered to stop and take a pic. The guy must do a lot of repair and restoration.

That's awesome. It's like a tractor version of the Cadillac Ranch ... or the Volkswagen Ranch, which we stumbled upon by accident when driving back from the Grand Canyon in 2011.

I've been to the Cadillac ranch and I was the most impressed with the amount of paint on the cars.

Next he will having someone trying to start those tractors...talk about a cold start. ;)

three hours on a lawnmower today due to rains coming in.
Hurricane watch out, basically a NorEaster it looks like slowly going up the coast.
I hope we don't get high winds, the cleanup around pine trees is just endless.

Unloaded a pallet of balusters from the pickup, then lifted it to a convenient working height for cutting to length.

No real seat time today. Decided to dig out great grandpa's old pedal powered grinding stone. It still works but the center of the stone is broken out some and slips on the shaft. I'm going to repair it with JB-Weld and put it back into service tuning up mower blades.

Today I pushed over an OLD dead tree. It was all ate out on one side and about to fall over. It was dead and the top broken off at about 30-40' high decades ago. It's been standing and rotting for a very long time. I walked over to check it out and when leaning against it I could feel the ground raising under my feet, so I knew it wouldn't take much to knock it over.

And the same spot from about 10' away:

It was about '5 across at that pic, and about 7' across at chest high...

Give us some pics of the inside broken part of the tree! What is it?

huge tree, I'd naturally think of an old oak but in that area, any redwoods?
