Default Diesel fuel discussion got me thinking...

I'm on this ATV forum some, and ran across this topic on Diesel Fuel.

On vs. Off Road Diesel?

It got me wondering if the low sulfer content on the On Road fuels will harm my 1986 Kubota diesel.....???????

Nah...Most places it's the same stuff, just has dye in it. Our refinery still makes high sulphur diesel. We sell mostly to the marine industry. The cut off date for refineries is 2012 with another year or 2 for smaller refiners.

A guy on that board gave this tip on how to run off road in your onroad vehicle.
( hide a tank of it in the back of the truck, in a toolbox or something? )

When the high way police stop all pickups and trucks diesel type vehicles and run that small tube into your tank and it returns red. Expensive. tax mileage is figured on age of truck and miles driven. + court fine. it isn't worth the small amount of money saved.
Farm trucks permitted if prior permit is applied for and records kept of high way miles not worth the cost.
Hoping some one figures out a legal way to lower the cost of diesel. Still will keep driving and wishing.

Well I just found another excuse for my new unit, it will even run on that CALIFORNIA CART mandated fuel without problems. Or at least the stickers say so.
