Well, I live about 45 minutes away. Plus, it was unexpected. The watershed commission kept telling us they had no money. Apparently they found some......you know where.

You can see my truck in both images for scale. The steepness of the sides does not translate well in the pictures but it is steep enough that it is hard to walk up and down.

There are bulldozer tracks but it is obviously clear that this was 'mowed' with something and apparently something big. Some of the tress it knocked down were easily 6 inches, some probably more. I don't have a 'before' picture but it was too thick to walk through, way over head high with lots of taller cedars, sweet gums, persimmons and wild plum. So I could not figure out how this was done.

My B-I-L who is part owner of this dam did not see it done either but he said saw the equipment. There was a dozer but he said it just had a blade on it. He said there was a good sized tractor with a big bat wing mower. He said the fronts and rears wheels were spread out real wide. He said he thinks he mowed long ways on the slope! I can hardly imagine that since like I said, this slope is fairy hard to stand on!

Regardless, I wish I could have seen it! And I bet there was some puckering going on too!
They could have used something like this...

Bet they used a NH from Hinton Tractor in Alabama. Look under ROW tractor on their web site, they sell NH TB120 with 8 tires or with forestry tires (30 ply) and OSHA certified cages. They cut our property where a person can not walk up the hills.

I have one of these PT slope tractors and still, anything beyond 30 degrees (which this dam looks like) really puckers you up. The other day through a series of inadvertent moves I ended up on a 40 degree slope (the tractor is rated at 45). This slope happened to have 2 trees which my tractor ended up in between. Walking up that 40 degree slope to fetch a chain saw really made me realize how darn steep 40 degrees is. Wish i had a helicopter or a track hoe with a flail mower....

I do the local closed landfill here. No-one else will mow it, as it's steep, thick and drops right into 6' boulders at the bottom. My 4150 Kubota does the 4 acres in about 2 hours, but the steep areas I have to crabwalk. The Woods B106 pulls the rear of the tractor downhill to the point that the wheels are turned just slightly uphill while the rear sideslips. Thank god for loaded tires, a loader and a seatbelt.

Near that water I'd have to debate the seatbelt, though. Not sure if I'd rather take my chances swimming rather than unbuckling. Some of those sidehill tractors are amazing.

As for the chopper, who do you suppose was the first to try that? Certainly not the guy who thought of it first, I'm sure he got someone else to actually try it.

He is leaning so he isn't straining to stay in the seat so much. If he tried to sit straight in the seat his back would be killing him.

Nope, the seat hydraulically tilts automatically. It is very disconcerting to be staring at your ROPS bar and see your steering wheel on the left and your tire on the right and you are upright...

that's pretty cool......

it just reminded me of when i'm on a slight incline with my tractor and i catch myself leaning.......yeah, it makes it more comfortable and your body actually does it automatically just to keep youself in the upright position......but like it's actually gonna help keep the wheels planted

reminds me of getting off my sport bike atv and getting in my buddy's side by side rhino.......and catch myself leaning......
