I just noticed that the stump jumper in my stored bush hog was filled with water, leaves, and mouse stuff. I'm thinking of just pouring used motor oil into that perfectly shaped cup from the top to keep it in good shape.

Or else drill holes in it for water to drain out?

Water gets in from the top.

If you have to store it outside put a tarp on it. Would help all the way around I would think.

Keeping it out of the weather is of coarse the best bet. But that isn't always possible. Filling it with oil would only work until it rained again... since oil is lighter than water and floats to the top. Coverage of some sort would be best. But don't sweat it too bad... there are many a brushhog that have spent their entire life outside and still run with the best of 'em.
