My GSD has the dog MS/ALS.
We are surprised she has lasted this long. We thought she would not make it past the end of March but she is still hanging on. Actually called the vet twice to come out to have her put to sleep but the GSD pulled through.
The illness is awefull. Here is this wonder dog that I saw do some awesome, jaw dropping things, and she can barely walk. She poops on the floor 3-4 days a week. She just can't help it. It shames her.
Thankfully we have a finished concrete floor. Cleanup is easy and fast. Going through gallons of Lysol. She wakes me up 2-4 times a night to go outside. Sometimes she does her business sometimes not. But until she can't get up anymore and has not given up mentally we won't give up on her.
Sorry for you loss. Its tough.
We have another dog and the kids will get another after our GSD is gone. I don't think *** I *** will ever have another dog. She is my last. She was all but perfect.

Dan
