Hurricane Ike really pounded SE Tx. more than most of us expected. It took down a ~50 white oak tree in backyard and nice cedar in front yard. As luck would have it the tractor was in the shop to get a grapple put on, they did not get to it befor the hurricane so all the brush loading was done with just the pallet forks.

Over the last few days I moved many huge piles of brush to the streets edge for pick up for neighbors and friends supprisingly the pallet forks worked well if the brush was stacked right...

So the seat time was rather a bummer removing two of my nice trees.

Cedar trees in general took a beating in our area

Tractor would not budge it.. Almost M59 time :)

Lighten the stump by several hundred pounds in order to lift it out.

Finally got the Oak stump up:

Chuck,

Those trees are tough to lose - - your place will never look the same as before the storm, but you will eventually get used to it. Wish I had had your machine instead of my BX after Katrina. That white oak will make great firewood - - it is a sweet smelling wood.
Sorry about your damage. Thanks for sharing.

I am in Missouri and lost several trees on my land. All old, beautiful trees in a
spot I can't get to to log them. Even cutting them up for firewood would be
a bear. What a waste...
