That Durafix stuff looks tempting and I may give it a try. But the crack along the upper edge is really not a structural so I may just go the bondo route. We'll see.
I haven't shown the boat to my Dad yet. It is actually his boat. Fortunately it was one of those real beaters so it has never been pretty and has had numerous other patches and repairs, so he won't be mad.
The thing I've learned is that either my reflexes, my mental quickness or my grasp of reality or all three are not what they used to be and that from now on I'm going to have to be a lot more like Double Orange's wife.
The other thought that occurred to me is that even though I may be blaming my old age (45), an observer would have thought I was acting more like a teenager! You know, that 'who me, worry' attitude or the 'nothing can go wrong' mentality. I'm glad my 18 year old son did not witness the incident because he knows I would have busted his chops for doing the same thing! I can hear it now:
Me: Why on earth did you run over that boat rope? Are you really that lazy?
Him: Dad, I did not see the rope in the deep grass, gimme a break.
Me: Didn't see it? The boat was right there. Where in the heck did you think the rope would be?
Him: I don't know. (Rolls eyes).
Me: Then why didn't you stop the
PTO when you saw the boat jerk?
Him: I don't know. It happened real fast. I thought it would just cut the rope or something.
Me: Oh my gosh, you have got to be kidding. I thought I brought you up smarter than that. Boy, your granddad is going to be mad!
