Had that very thing happen to me about 3 years ago when I first got the tractor.
Even wrote a thread about it. I stalled the tractor while operating at low rpms (one reason to have them up higher) when it almost died and then started running again but very rough with smoke and stuff. I tried to move it forward and it started going in reverse! Put it in reverse and started to go forward so I shut it down.
This is funny ... Not knowing at the time, I really thought I screwed up the transmission. lol ... so bad in fact that I thought the shifter forks or a gear spline had been shoved way out of position and was causing this. All kinds of things were going through my mind. That shows how much I knew at the time.
Anyway, after I stopped crying, I started it again and it ran fine again
... shees, I'll never forget that day.
