My dream of obtaining a Bridgeport mill finally ended yesterday when I was able to bring this beauty home. I bought it from a model shop in NJ who was moving their operations to another location. Since the machine has never seen production work, the ways are in excellent shape, and spindle bearings are quiet. It is a Model 2j2 (variable speed, 2HP), equipped with a Mitutoyo DRO, Servo power feed, bijur one-shot, KURT Vise, End mill set, hold down set, R8 collet set, drill chucks etc. For me, its been a lifelong dream to have a machine as this, so forgive me if my gloating comes across. Anyway, knowing I had my TN and a set of forks, plus the trailer, I figured I was prepared to make the 100 mile trip and move it to NY. I volunteered a friend,(thanks Joe!) plus one of the employees who helped out. I bought the lifting spreader from northern tool, and a johnson bar, which made the whole job a lot easier. It was relatively easy since it was only about 15' to the loading dock, where we rolled on some steel rod, then the lift eye on the machine hooked to the forks via the spreader did the job to get her on the trailer. The final location will be my basement which will be a separate move and another challenge in the next month. For now shes in the garage, patiently waiting. Any way, thanks for letting me share.
