for 951 48\" rotary cutter
Hello, I have just come across a ford 951 48" rotary cutter that I'm preping to cut with. I've done the usual, inspected the blades, greased the pto shaft and joints, and was wondering what to put in the ger box to top it off. The manual ( from 1985 ) says to use the following:
sunoco 850 aep, or gulf mining lub HD, or mobile ep023
I can't seem to find these.. anyone know what they spec out to or are equivalent to?
Thanks,
Soundguy

I sure don't know about those names, but I can't recall any gearboxes on rotary cutters that don't use 85W-90 gear oil (and some people use the 85W-140 instead). Is there any oil in it so you could look at some of it and see what it "appears" to be?

It is nearly full, and just requires topping off, and really looks like it is a rear end lube like you mentioned.. like 85/140... smells like it too.
I soppose it wont hurt anything to add some more rear end lube to top it off.
