lubed my JD 997 diesel Z mower today, manual showed to lube engine drive shaft in 2 spots, but i could not find either of the grease fittings. does anyone know if this was changed to be sealed in the later models?

There ought to be 2 zerks on the crosses within the cv joint assembly on this shaft. You may have to rotate the shaft to be able to see them or remove the shaft to angle it enough to get a grease gun in there. I'm not sure why they put a cv joint there just for the sake of talking.
These zerks would be in the same position on the crosses as they are on the mower drive shaft (which also has 2: 1 on each cross) and another one on the spline slider joint.

Just for reference - the manual for my 757 Z-Trak shows some grease fittings when there aren't any found on the machine.
