I have a Kubota L2800 4x4 geared, with an FEL. A neighbor is shopping for a tractor, but in the mean time has asked me to move around some round bales for her. I'm fairly confident I can't do it with the FEL, but the person she gets hay from would loan her a spear for the 3-pt - the bales are 900-1000 lbs, and I THINK my tractor can handle it - am I right or wrong?

Hello
You should be able to handle them just fine.
Worst case you might need to put some wieght in the bucket for stability.
Give it a try , you can set it down if you need to.

Had a L3600 kubota and forks on front for bales would cause the tractor to be prone to tipping even with weight on rear. As long the bale was on the ground and picked up only high enough to move o'k If removing from loaded trailer the height would have the bale over the top of the tractor and in backing to unload the front was carring the total load and steering the tractor was very unstable. The bales I was unloading weighed about 900 to 1200 lb.
Be careful a soft location the tires sink then a tip over.
Now have a 4520 JD and the large bales have to be careful in moving.

Re read the question No Problem in using the rear bale spears the weight is on the rear of tractor
