Default To use or not to use - front weights

Time to start thinking about snow removal. I use a 6' rear blade on my Kubota 7500hst, 400' gravel drive. I know you're not supposed to use rear R4's and front turfs while in 4wd because of potential transmission damage. Here are some questions I have:

1 - Using turf tires with rear chains, could I or should I use front weights?

2 - Would you use 4wd while using rear wheel chains only?

CHRIS: your are in my neck of the woods, have u used this tractor before to move snow? seems like 400ft is a long way with rear blade, especially with deep snow. iwould most certainly use some kind of front weights.

I run turf tires all the way around w/chains on the rear, and yet to have any problems during all four seasons.

Just keep the chains tight and take your time.

I have used a riding lawn mower with a 4' blade and also a blower. Using a blade caused the driveway to get narrower and the snow banks higher with each pass.
The blower was great but it got beat up pretty bad eating small rocks.
I would get angry with both because the rider was not big enough to handle the amount of snow or the large driveway.
I'm figuring the first real snow will be here less than a month.
