What oil for JD 4000 series front axle?
What type of oil is used in the front axle of the JD 4000 series tractors? The manual shows Hygard oil that meets the J20D standard. Is this the standard JD Hygard low-viscosity hydraulic oil? Thanks.

I can't answer that quest, but read on down in your manual. It usually lists a common fluid type (non-JD brand) that you can use if the JD fluid is not available.

Yes Steve, It's the same as the trans fluid (low visc)
