Default Re: HP needed for mowing

I have an L3710 and I think the PTO HP is somewhere around 30 to 32 HP. I have a Rhino 6 foot cutter and don't have any trouble unless the grass is really thick and/or really wet and then I just have to slow down. You need to consider size of tractor since you'll be using it for more than just mowing (more than likely) and the time you have to mow. I would've went with a bigger tractor but I had the time (only bush hog about twice a year) and couldn't justify the extra cost of upgrading to the 4310. At that time they were the same size tractor (framewise) and had the same lift capacities back and front. I would've only got about 5 extra HP for 1500-2000 bucks difference in price. Now I understand the 4330 is quite a bit more tractor but at the time it wasn't worth it for me.
