hour meter
In looking at the 4 digit hour meter on a used tractor and assuming the last digit is tenths, how can you tell if its over 1000 hrs and started again?http://s1126.photobucket.com/albums/...t=e3e7a57d.jpg

Re: hour meter
You sure the last digit is tenths? Hmmm.. Seems odd to only have 3 digit plus a tenths hr meter.
Edit: looking at your added pic it sure seems to only have 3 digits.
I'd guess just have to go by looks of wear and tear on the tractor. It could of turned over several times.

Re: hour meter
I'm not sure, maybe someone can verify that its tenths, but that tractor appears to have more than 416 hrs.

Re: hour meter
Next time you use the tractor, keep a close eye on the last digit and see if it turns over every tenth of an hour. If it does, then it registers tenths.

Re: hour meter
Just to add to my last response, it sure looks like a "tenths" digit wheel to me, from the picture you attached.

Re: hour meter
Answer -- you can't.
You have to just look at the the condition of the machine and try and determine if it is first time round or 10th time.

Re: hour meter
It has a cigarette lighter along side the proofmeter. At least the coil was also used that way back in the day.
