Solar Powered Battery Charger

Hello All

I was wondering if anyone has ever used a solar panel to keep their battery charged? Probably means a little more here in Canada with the vehicles outside in the colder temperartures. Have a dual battery setup in my JD 2130 so it is a little bit of a pain to have to move them in and out each time especially if you need to clear some snow later at night or early morning. Thought I could get a couple of panels mount them onto a board and have these keep the batteries topped up...anyone done something similar?

The 2003 VW TDI's came with one, but the 2009 did not. I use the VW solar panel to keep the charge up on the old work truck because it isn't driven all that often, and the electronic stuff (clock, etc) have constant a small drain. Works great.

Also have an inexpensive HF panel that we use occasionally on other vehicles. Since we don't have that much snow, the panels are propped up on the dashboard with the vehicle parked facing South.
