    Default Caliber M-1000 Tire Ballast

    Anyone ever heard of Caliber M-1000 tire ballast? A few tire places locally have started using it. I guess they use it as a road deicer as well. They say it is "less toxic, less corrosive" Not sure what that means.... Anyone using it?

    Looking at the MSDS sheet, it is Magnesium Chloride 27% so it is a salt solution. Maybe not as corrosive as Calcium Chloride as they claim, but I would bet it is still a corrosive just like the other chlorides (sodium, calcium etc.) I would stay away from it unless I had tube tires.
