hello everyone,
is there more than one "official" hood for a 1949 8N? My hood does not have the air filter little door on the right side (from the seat view). Should it?

on another in the family, I think a '50 or '51 has the door but no little canister fixed outside. Should it? Or was this an option

thank you, cfb

the canister is an add on seperator cleaner. normally an 8n will have a louvered door with screen behnd it to block the big chunks from entering the oil bath air cleaner.

a 9n / 2n hood will not have that door as the air cleaner top is vented in one way or another...

thanks Soundguy, that's what I was afraid of. I'll probably be hunting for a replacement down the road. I perhaps should have suspected as the hood is a very dark grey, which I've only seen on 2Ns I believe and no Ford Script, whereas the fenders are the lighter color.

unless you are going for originality.. you can simply ventilate it.. :)
