i haul heavy machinery every day on a lowboy, and i dont cover exhaust pipes, and have never been asked or advised to, and i deliver new $$$$$$ machinery for dealers/factory reps.

I have to question this also as I can't see much difference between being towed at 60 mph or just
sitting out on a windy day. Can not see how much air will move through any 4 cycle engine as the intake and exhaust
valves will not be open at the same time for any one cylinder.

I jump in w/ my two cents also. There has been a lot of advancment in turbo design so it is not really necc for the most part, imao. There are some machines that it is still needed to do but will apply more to units that do not utilize an exhaust system or how the exhaust is routed. An example would be today's higher hp windrowers that do not have a muffler and with enough air flow the turbo will spin like a top easily. Many equipment haulers still cover exhaust mostly as a "c.y.a." philosophy.
