autodesk fusion 360 = free for hobbyists / start ups / students for 1 year if you register. and then you can redo it again is what autodesk website states. it is not autodesk inventor. but looks easy enough to deal with. only main issue looks like i will need to right some javascript or python scripts for any sort of 3D curves / spline curves or like. will most likely need to dive into the API here soon enough....

google keywords...
free piston linear generator

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pBPw33ceoQ around 1:30 it starts showing video of the generator. and then showing 2 "flat" bars loaded up with coils / magnets, in order to create electricity.

it seems to forced. to have flat bars. and i am looking for more of a full cylinder based piston and coil/magnet ends that are also cylinder based. so the piston can move back and forth but also spin.

i am wanting to focus magnetic forces on the piston out away from it. and into the engine block per say. were the outer coils / magnets are.
BUT!!!!
4 stroke doing....
--i only want the magnetic forces to happen. during the "combustion" of the air/fuel mixture.
--when it comes time to push out the exhaust. i want the piston to night fight against the electrical / magnetic forces. i do not want to do a sudden forward to reverse direction and coils/magnets fighting against each other.
--then i want the piston to kinda suck in air / fuel into the chamber.
--then i want to ram the piston back to TDC (top dead center) per say, to compress everything right before ignition / combustion happens.
have not thought far enough for 2 stroke doing. but regardless. would like to control one direction were the piston has a lot of force it has to push against (creating electricity) and then the opposite direction were it does not have to fight against the electrical / magnetic forces.

going a bit further...
halbach array from intechopen.png image is from A Long-Stroke Planar Actuator with Multiple Degrees of Freedom by Minimum Number of Polyphase Currents | InTechOpen

at moment it is showing "2D" / flat halbach array. figure i would toss it around a cylinder... and see what it looked like...
halbach array piston multi array.png

A / B diagrams in above photo = more of a block shaped setup. (quick and easy in autodesk fusion)
C / D diagrams = more cone shaped. idea was more along a "parachute" in one direction (you falling to your death) and then parachute happens and a lot of drag happens and slows you down. in the other direction the parachute basically folds up and becomes useless (per say) and lets the piston more easily go back to TDC (top dead center) doing. waiting for next combustion to happen.

back to drawing board. to see if i can figure out how to put a better screw like pathing to a halbach cylinder array. along with adding a little more shape to each magnet.... between outer to inner edges of the piston....

not much done...
mostly just tinkering around with autodesk fusion 360 and getting use to it. and at same time getting extreme basic stuff out of the way of how a magnets placed in an array might look. and just attempting to see what may come of it in my own head. *yikes*
piston magnet wonderings.jpg

some 2D layouts one for a flat array of magnets, another for see'ing if i could adjust 2D sketch and have 3D coils auto adjust (failed big time)
2D simple layouts.png

millions of jigs.... diameter + degree + height = x,y,z coordinates for points... then a manually running a line between each point, then a "sweep", then a "circle pattern" = fastest rendering / working so far. everything else just seems to max out the CPU.
millions of jigs.png

autodesk fusion custom plugins / addins *grumbles* seems like 2 to 3 possible places stuff is going in, on windows 8 computer. and looks like i am going to need to step back and dig in further.

have yet to try out a *.cvs / spreedsheet addin via autodesk website -> exchange apps for autodesk fusion. hopefully it might let me add a few initial things easier. though still guessing i will be back in program code in most of it. to deal with running wire / wraping / twisitng/ bending the wire. *arghs*

===========
i am finding myself wishing i could use both mice (one wireless / one corded) and be able to use them like 2 joysticks on a backhoe. and mess with stuff in autodesk fusion and/or inventor.

nothing really done yet for javascript / python api and building my own path for wire to follow yet. most of it has been reading and finding out were documentation is.

autodesk fusion 360 plugins by others, looks to be mostly in house plugins so far.

not really doing anything. more of how the heck am i going to wrap a few hundred wires in a elongated toriod / cylinder. ((more of a reality check for myself more than anything)) and seeing things visually vs in my head.
toriod1.png

=======================
more flushing out an idea... of how to mount a few hundred reels of wire. and then wrap them around in multi directions. and at same time shape some of the wire so some spots it is circle shape, other times tear drop shape, other times square shape, other times almost rectangular / flat. while i have not figured out how to shape the wire directly. this is going more along the lines of a "track setup" that the machines could run on. and completely in-circle the "free piston linear generator / battery" thing.

the idea of the track setup came from various weaving machines / looms. including how they make wiring harnesses.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j19na8LMBnE 3D weaving machine per say. more for braiding if memory serves. and build up layer upon layer to create some 3D effect of different body parts for cars and like.

only showing half of entire track. (copy / paste rotate 180 degrees = fully enclosed track)
machine tracks ball.jpg
figure i could mount robotic arms that feed out wire. to better obtain twists in wire, and wrap it around. *shrugs*

been getting stuck on drawing out twisting wires

it is one thing to take 2 wires and twist them with your hands. but to use math to plot x,y,z points has become a challenge been going at since last post.

another issue for tighter twists.. both wires get deformed from a circle to kinda of a oval shape towards the middle of the twisting of the 2 wires together.

===========
javascript plotting x,y,z points in autodesk fusion 360 looking good. and does not seem that complicated. there seems to be some missing detail about some "object types" within the documentation. looks like it will take some time messing with javascript code to get things worked out via trail / error one step at a time.

autodesk fusion 360 vs autodesk inventor
at moment fusion 360 is dumb down version of inventor. but seems a bit more stable. there is a lot of small misc things that fusion is lacking. to make it easier / quicker to work with. but seems to do the job.

part good part bad... looks like most of my work will be within javascript to plot x,y,z points, then draw lines / curves through them. been trying to figure out a easier way between...
#1 edit javascript file
#2 save file
#3 undo last run of the script (optional)
#4 run script (hope no errors in script)
#5 stop script (optional if errors)
---steps 2,3,5 seem to be the most annoying / time consuming.

another con to fusion 360 it seems everything is placed at the CPU. graphics do not seem to be transferred to the GPU. so there is a constant load on the CPU. both for windows 8.1 and now currently windows 10. things are fast, just need to watch out what other programs i have loaded in background.

=============
i did do a search via google to try and find a "wire / rope" program. that had collusion detection, and some sort of free hand drawing of wire/rope but nada. the nearest thing i came to find in building a wire/rope... is to create a skeleton / bone structure in game engines / 3D like apps. and each bone being a point were rope/wire can bend.

*rubs chin* i guess my next duty will be to create a UI (user interface) that is tied to a jig / template javascript code.
at moment it would seem i need to
1/2 create a plane set z / height of plane
3 create a sketch
4 create a base line (for angle)
5 create a secondary line
6 set a constraint
7/8 create / set 2 dimensions

i can by pass all 8 steps, but it would seem only the initial points on main plane can be adjusted. anything with a Z not on same plane i can not edit its location. and it would seem there is no way to edit x,y,z for a point. through autodesk fusion 360 current interface. was hoping for a "right click" edit x,y,z for a point, but that is nada.

===============
skipping pictures / links this post... power has went out a few different times and then windows 10 updates restarting without warning. wiping stuff out :/ most of it has been junk anyhow.

was hoping for multi stacked rodin coils but closer looking there individually wrapped :/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jwb_1FKduvE more along the lines of showing electricity / magnetic flow through a rodin coil.

Very Intriguing Rodin Coil Vortex Smoke Test Air Effects - Video Dailymotion "smoke test" a few minutes into video, showing smoke from some incense burners. something different

http://tomsk.fm/watch/162054 not really impressive, but needed non the less of trying to get idea of how magnetic field is being created around the coil.

not much for rodin coil and the 2 triangles, but the double cone image above, i should keep in mind. when running a double or more stack of rodin coils. and dealing with a kinda of a North and South poles.

The spam must have got removed, since the thread is from 2015.
Just noticed. It was removed right away looks like.

For more context, it was a new dodgy account spamming on of those dodgy links.
