Sandy mess finally cleaned up

/ Sandy mess finally cleaned up #21
One of these days I'm going to drive off the road looking at downed trees ignored on people's property, all that potential firewood. Or is the right word now "biomass"...

Boy, I hear you on that one. Had to drive down to the Bronx, NY yesterday all along the shoreline area in CT and NY and I couldn't believe all the trees on the side of the highway just sitting there. The state highway crews had cut and moved anything that fell near the road, but all the rest is just wasting away it appears. I had to remind myself to keep my eyes on the traffic.

But, I did manage to snag this downed red oak and birch from my neighbor's property. She has no use for the wood and gives it to me as thanks for helping her out on various things. The birch got knocked over by the oak and they were laying one on top the other. Being cut up in this pic, it's hard to tell one from the other except the birch was much smaller. It's all sitting in my backyard now waiting for the splitter.
