Broke stem off front tire
I'm new to tractoring and today somehow broke the stem of the inner tube on the front wheel of my less than 1 year old with about 50 hours on it, Kabota B3300SU. I was using the box scraper to level out a large hump of east texas black clay. The hump is about 30' wide. I would lower the scraper to ground level (tines dropped a single notch below the bottom of the scraper) and make a pass and then dump what got collected at the end of the pass by raising the scraper. In doing so I was making 1 - 2' tall mounds that I would drive the tractor over after each pass.
Am I doing something wrong in my approach of driving over the mounds that would have caused the stem to get broken off? I did not notice low tire pressure in the tire before starting.

Re: Broke stem off front tire
Driving over the dirt wouldn't break off the stem. Are you sure it is a tube type tire most of the new tractors come with tubeless tires. If a stick or rock hits the stem it can break it, I had to drive my tractor from the back to the front 1/2 mile total with a flat the steam on the tube pulled out of the hole and the bead broke loose all i had to do was pull the tube out patch it pull the thorne out and putit back together didn't even pull the wheel off.

Re: Broke stem off front tire
it's just one of those things. I can go years and not do it and then three in one week. I bet you don't break another one for a long time.
If they will fit try the meal truck type as replacement.

Yeah, I'm sure it's got a inner tube as it came flopping out. That's how I noticed I was flat. Thanks for the info.

Re: Broke stem off front tire
Interesting, thanks for the info. Funny that it broke when I was scraping clear land. I had it back in the woods the weekend before, pushing fallen trees and clearing brush. Would have made a lot more sense that something broke it then.

Mine came out so often that i welded a short piece of iron pipe to the rim to protect it. On the threads I put a cap. They won't get hit again.

I was going to say the same thing, look at larger equipment most have some sort of protection for the valve stem.
