Ford 3600 Loader?
Guys,
Anyone have any experience with a loader on the Ford 3600? I am inheriting one with about 1500 hrs, and would hate to install a loader if the front end won't hold up to the loading.

Re: Ford 3600 Loader?
the 3600 uses essentially the same 'light duty' front axle design with spreading leafs and radius rods that originated on the 1939 ford 9n.
while it's not the most awesone front axle for a loader.. if the machine has power steering.. it will be /ok/.
the 4000+ series and other HD or light industrials with hd fixed or sliding axles and no radius rods are much more robust for laoder use.
that said.. they will still do lots of work.
I have loaders on MANY of my old fords.. aged from 53-early 60s. all yse that weaker front axle design.
i move round bales of hay with them.
I wouldn't want to do it day in, day out, 7 days a week, 365 a year.
but for light to medium use.. it's an ok setup.
the 3600 is a decent machine too.. many hyds improvements over the 3000 3 cyl series.

Re: Ford 3600 Loader?
Very helpful, thanks Soundguy. You think it would handle +/- 1,000 lbs? I'd certainly need to go easy on it given the light duty design.

Re: Ford 3600 Loader?
my 1955 ford 850 handles 1200# bales and it's front axle is the same... bolster may actually be even weaker ... i do have power steering. a 3600 should handle 1000# on a loader.. IF the loader is up for it..
