basic q\'s from a new operator
First of all, Hello...
I have some basic questions... I have read three manuals, but have a different outlook after operating my just delivered 790 for 7 hours today.
When stopping, I roll back on the throttle for a minute or so. Is this a good thing, bad thing, or unnecessary? I remember seeing my Grandfather do it, and just figured it was the thing to do. My neighbor thought it was unnecessary. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Second, when dropping the FEL and 3ph mounted brush hog, do you all turn the machine off, then drop? or drop under power, then kill the engine? I tried the latter, and felt like it was down too far... I actually felt the tractor raise just a tad when I dropped the FEL... I wondered if supporting the weight of the machine with the hydraulics was a bad idea?
My land has some <1 ft deep ruts and gullies. I used the diff lock four times today to "unstuck" myself (we have gotten some rain lately). Would it be better to use MFWD instead of the differential lock? Is one better than the other to use to prevent wear and tear on equipment?
How do you explain to your wife your desire to just sit on a quiet tractor til after the moon rises? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Thanks...
