Clutch Problem
I have an '88 JD 2755 with synchro trans and manual clutch. Shaft does not stop completely when clutch is depressed. I must go to low idle and select gear 4/8 before selecting range, or it will grind before engaging range. Gear 4/8 is the only gear that will engage without grinding. Clutch pedal free travel is adjusted to 1 inch. Anything else I can do before separating housing?

Re: Clutch Problem
If you have plenty of engagement distance where the clutch grabs and then your pedal free travels on up toward you AND it's an adjustable clutch,I'd adjust it to engage more near the top of its travel.
If it's a hydraulic clutch,bleed it thoroughly. don-ohio (:^)
