There is a silver rectangular bracket attached to one of the lift arms on the back of my Ford 8N (see pic below). This bracket was already on the tractor when I got it, but I don't know what it is for. I do know it tends to slide down and get in the way when I am trying to attach my bush hog.

Any ideas of what this is supposed to be?

It is to keep a lift arm draw bar straight if you hook it up to your lift arms. Otherwise if you put a ball hitch on it and tried to move a trailer the hitch would spin. I don't have a picture to explain it but I'm sure someone will do a better job then I did.

Thanks for the responses. I understand now what it is for.

I have moved my boat trailer using a draw bar and noticed that the bar did indeed try to twist on the ball hitch. I guess I had a solution to prevent the twisting and didn't even realize it.

I'll definitely use this bracket from now on whenever I use the draw bar to pull anything.

Thanks again!
