I recently purchases that I was told is a 1940 9N ford. It does not have a dip stick for the transmission or differential. How do you check the fluid level on this tractor and what type of fluid should I use when I change I?

some early 9n did not have a place for a dipstick ont he back right side inspection cover. instead some had one in the top of the trans cover.

in any case. common sump hyds, trans and diffy hold about 5g oil.

yuo can use 90wt gl1 - 3 oil found at nap or TSC.. 80w90 gl4/5 oil that is mt1 rated and / or states yellow metal safe, or just about ANY UTF fluid.. though ones meeting m2c134 spec are best.

pull a lower bolt in the inspection cover on the right or left side of the center section and fill till oil dribbles out there.
