I'm a tiny bit less of a newbie than I was this morning. Got a quote from my local Kubota dealer on a BX25D. Too high for me, but I went in and looked at it today and got the backhoe dirty. First time to sit on a tractor or operate one.

Home Depot now rents Kubota BX25D tractors so after the dealer I went over and rented one. I have to know whether I'm shopping the right size.

Anyway, it was a blast. I have 6 acres, but 3 are vertical and 3 very flat. I'm not going to be growing anything (except weeds) and being desert I don't need to worry about trees. There isn't enough snow for me to worry about clearing that, either. I'll be using it for brush removal, landscaping and grounds (dirt) maintenance.

The BX25 was a great success. If I was working professionally or in a hurry I would clearly want something bigger. But this is just to help me do to my few acres what I want to make it attractive and keep it that way. There is no hurry at all.

So, pics mandatory, right? Not letting me upload, let's try links:

It seems weird to me to see someone in a jacket that is in the desert outside of San Diego. What was the number quoted by for dealer for the BX25D?

Monster, the jacket is for sun protection. Sensitive skin. Okay, its cold here, too! :)

I had other stuff on the quote, two remotes, Gannon -all together just over 25 grand.

Uh, looking at those rocks behind you you might want something bigger. At least an M59 :)
