Do you have any idea what that wood box weighs? Do you think my LA724 loader could lift it?

Not a chance. Lift Capacity, LA724 Loader, 500mm forward of bucket pivot - 1415 lbs

But you might as well go ahead and try it, as all that'll happen if it's too heavy is it won't go up. That wood might not be as heavy as you think.

I'm pretty sure it would lift it. The problem is I have to haul my wood over the road so I would have to lift it high enough to load a truck which it couldn't do. Hauling my wood 3 miles round trip is a lot of trouble, but it is worth it. I get to store it on a concrete floor under a roof VS in the mud and rain. You are probably thinking build a wood shed, but restrictions won't allow that.

I agree. yes green maple on average is around 6000lb but dried can weigh around 3000. So somewhere in between.

for long distance travel I like a trailer because you can go with a lot more wood with a lot less strain.

What is the TnT leverage you mentioned?

TnT abbreviation for Top 'n Tilt (or Tip 'n Tilt). Basically replacing your 3 point hitch top link and the adjustable side link with hydraulic cylinders and running them via hydraulic rear remotes. It comes in very handy when grading with a box blade or York rake. I use the top link when brush hogging as well to lift up the rear of the brush how and lower it over some of the more stubborn brush.

To do it right, you want cylinders with piloted check valves (if I'm remembering that name correctly). I did not use them on mine, and it still works fine, but the piloted check valves would keep any settings I make locked in place better.

6000 pound for a 1/2 cord?

I prefer to haul the logs over there in a dump truck. Then I cut and split the firewood over there. It is also nice to store logs over there. I have had logs since last February with no rot.

The simple log cradles I made out of 3 pallets and a couple straps on the top hold approx. a 1/4 of a full cord. My tractor which is I think only rated to lift 1100 at the pins can get that off the ground when it's full (but won't lift it to full height) of maple dried to around 10-20% moisture. It's around 3/4 full that I can get a full lift out of them - which I was looking for as I stack them 2 high. My only cost was transporting the pallets home myself (businesses are always looking to get rid of them!) and nails to put them together. The wood I used for straps across the top were scraps I had laying around.

They are reasonably easy to load, and as they use a pallet for a base very easy to pick up and move. I'm actually in the process of setting up my forks to go on the 3ph as that should be able to lift a full cradle. Then at least my bottom row can be full.

I was wondering that myself. ;)
A heaping load of logs on the 1 ton truck with side boards if probably 2 cords of wood at least 1.5 cord. It handles about the same as 3 ton of gravel, and certainly less than 5 ton of rock. A pickup with side boards can haul a cord of split wood and it certainly isn't 12,000 pounds.
