Been a while since I owned one and I know it varies but in general. I have some big old chisel plows / field cultivators I am going to cut down and put new hitches on for small tractors and sell. I was thinking of making them 5' wide but wanted to make sure that would cover the tires on an average small tractor. I am think tractors in the 30 hp range.

My 1710 Ford is right at 60" wide

62" here, but tire tracks are slightly narrower.

66" is a good width for the 30 HP and under CUT's, if you want to make sure to completely cover the tire tracks.

Thanks for the info. I measured the tool bars and they are 10' . If I cut them in half and put 12" sweeps on them all the way to outside edges it should cover a little over 5'.

Mine is a little under 72". What about cutting them to order? I would want something in the 7' range for my tractor but someone with a sub compact might want a 3-4'. Just a thought.
